Earlier this morning, the Labor Department reported that consumer prices rose 0.5% during April, a bit higher than the consensus estimate. There was better news in the numbers, however, if you don't eat, heat or cool, or drive!
_____
In today's release on April consumer prices, the Labor Department reported a 0.5% rise in the Consumer Price Index during the month, versus a consensus estimate that was looking for an increase of 0.4%.
Excluding food and energy, the so-called "core rate," the CPI was unchanged during April.
By tomorrow morning, I will publish a detailed analysis of all the recent inflation-related numbers.
