Important Information About "GRA Running Commentary and Data"   - Nov. 29, 2005

December 15, 2005

Foreword

GRA Running Commentary and Data presently is "open content," which means you do not have to be a GRA subscriber to access it. However, because this section will contain more and more proprietary analysis, etc., it will not remain open.

I have not made a firm decision yet as to when this content will become available only to subscribers. My inclination, though, is that it will occur around the beginning of 2006.

About GRA Running Commentary and Data

In late November, I added this experimental feature to the GRA website. I could not be more pleased then to report that over its first couple of weeks of existence, it has achieved substantial popularity.

This addition represents part of one of the major goals I laid out for the website in recent memoranda. That goal was to get more in touch with the financial markets' shorter-term movements and the forces influencing them.

(Anyone not seeing those communications who would like copies should contact me at gsrdr@aol.com.)

Here's are some germane points made in one of the memos:

* Improved timing is an area that will receive much attention in the period ahead.

* We believe an indispensable role exists for sane technical analysis in helping to improve overall timing, and we plan to incorporate more technical considerations in our work.

* In 2006 and beyond, the model fixed-income and equity portfolios will assume very significant renewed importance regarding bond- and stock-market forecasts and timing judgments. In turn, we believe the active use of the model portfolios will be of material help in enhancing correct timing judgments.

Now here's something I wrote recently that describes the purpose of the ...Running Commentary and Data section. I believe what follows illustrates how Commentary should easily make the transition into a mutually inclusive part of what is touched on above:

"Entries will be made daily, often throughout the day, and they will tend to be very market oriented and quite short-term in nature. This is an effort to add to the website more material possessing a market-timing orientation. In addition, the column will serve as a bulletin board of sorts."

Commentary remains experimental, therefore, evolutionary. Any comments or thoughts you might have would be highly appreciated. --Doug Gillespie gsrdr@aol.com
